Winter Wonderland

Creekside Valley FarmThere is something so magical about the first snow, especially when it’s as beautiful as the one Wisconsin got yesterday. It was a winter wonderland – the kind where you feel like you’re living in a snow globe and you turn into a 5-year-old on Christmas morning. My mom and I went to visit Creekside Valley Farm once the snow started to stick. It’s their first year selling Christmas trees, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The owners are family friends, and it has been amazing watching them create such a beautiful place for families to visit. We’ve picked pumpkins here with my younger cousins for the past two years, and it’s just the best.

This weekend went by way too quickly, but I have a few fun trips coming up this week. I’m heading to New York tomorrow morning for a quick work trip, and cannot wait to see the city decorated for the holidays. And I’m really excited to host an event at Madewell in Madison on Sunday – more information coming soon to the blog!

I’ve gotten a bit delayed on my gift guides this year but am hoping to get some live this week. I love finding the perfect gift for loved ones and helping others do the same so I’m taking some more time to make sure I’m finding all of my favorite items this year. Have a great week, friends!

I loved your instagram photo so much I had to come see where you were! I’ve been terrible about visiting places in Wisconsin since moving here from Chicago- but I need to add this place to my list! It’s adorable!

    • You will love it! They still have a few trees left for sale, and I’m sure the farm will be just as beautiful with the snow we have coming this weekend.

  • It’s a no for Ainsley. We totally forgot Santa was visiting daycare tonight. We were up with her from 2-4 a.m. then all overslept and pretty much didn’t know what day it was when we woke up. Even if we slept through the night though, I don’t think we would’ve remembered. Tomorrow is a new day, and we’ll try again with Santa this weekend 😜
  • Bill, the Christmas elf, stayed up late last night putting the lights on the tree so that it was ready for ornaments in the morning 🎄❤️
  • Santa’s little helper thinks my fishy face could use some improvement, but she made up for the judgmental look by helping me fill some stockings. We ended the night with a dance party and waving goodnight to our tree (and hers) and all of her stuffed animals so I’d say she’s officially on the mend (knock on wood)!
  • This is probably going to be a rambling mess but this time of year is filled with a lot of emotions for me. And while nothing beats experiencing the holidays with a 14 month old, there’s still that hole in my heart missing my mom and brother. This room has taken two years to fill and so much has happened in that time that I wish they would have been here for. If you’re going through a new loss this holiday season (or any loss really), my heart is heavy for you. If you have a friend or family member coping with loss, I have two posts on my blog that may help even just a little - “How to Help a Grieving Friend” and “Coping with Loss During the Holiday Season”. There is a link to them in my bio. Every loss is different and I am by no means an expert, but writing has helped me along the way. (And while not the topic of this post, here are links to most of the pieces in this room because it’s really starting to feel like home, and I love it http://liketk.it/2HttZ #liketkit @liketoknow.it).
  • I couldn’t resist adding some Christmas magic to Ainsley’s room a little early. This is one of the trees my sister and I had in our room growing up around the holidays. Ainsley loves it just as much as we did! And thank you for checking in on our sweet girl. She finally seems back to herself just in time for the long holiday weekend ❤️
