Celebrating Mother’s Day

While Mother’s Day will always be a bittersweet holiday because I would give anything to have my mom here to celebrate with, this year feels pretty special because it’s my first with Ainsley. Last year at this time, we still didn’t know if we were having a boy or girl, but I was convinced it was a boy. So much for a mother’s intuition 😉

To celebrate, I’m so excited to share how I’m prepping for Mother’s Day brunch and some gift ideas whether you’re shopping for your mom, friend, sister, grandma or maybe even yourself.

I’m not sure about you, but one of my favorite places to shop for home accessories is actually my local grocery store: Sendik’s (yes, seriously). I’ve been known to go to the store a time or two only to look at the home section, and it’s hands down my top recommendation when someone asks me where to purchase florals in the area. Up until now, I feel like it was my little secret.

From soaps and lotions to candles and artwork, you’ll find a full range of home decor items in the home section. They have gorgeous blue and white ginger jars and vases, coasters, entertaining platters and my personal favorite that I have yet to purchase for myself, french fry holders (they’re super classy I promise). The Mequon store currently has a full line of tableware that looks almost like stoneware from afar but they’re actually super lightweight (great for outdoor entertaining too when you’re moving things around!). I’m going to pair one of those pieces with the gingham salad mixers for my aunt because she has gone above and beyond to help me these last few months, and she’s such an amazing cook and host.

Beyond finding gifts for the entertainer, coffee lover, homebody and plant lover, I also picked up some pieces to help put a few finishing touches on our dining room. I picked up candles, artwork, decorative jars and vases, potted plants, fresh arrangements and a picture frames to liven up the room and make it feel even more like home. I’m planning to make this easy egg bake, and I’ll also make a cinnamon roll french toast bake. I love having sweet and savory options plus some fresh fruit and mimosas. The beauty of it all is that I can pick everything up in once place! Local friends, you can even order your groceries online to pick up in-store or have them delivered to save you time (learn more here).

Hydrangeas were one of my mom’s favorites so I love anytime I can pick some up. I got stopped by three people on my way out of the store commenting on this arrangement. I was so glad I scooped it up. You can also get two stems for just $3.99 – they always have such a good selection!

Their buyers find the best and cutest planters. I’ve purchased a few pre-potted plants from Sendik’s and always say I’ll plant my own in them the next year, but then they find even cuter pots the next year. Plus, since they have the work already done for my not-so green thumb, I picked up this fun white one to add some texture to the room. And yes, those happy prints and ginger jar are from the home section too.
